The National Commendation Conference on Spiritual Civilization Construction was held in Beijing on May 23. The meeting commended the 7th batch of National Civilized Cities, National Civilized Villages and Towns, and National Civilized Units, the 3rd batch of National Civilized Families and National Civilized Schools, and the 9th batch of National Moral Models. Suzhou City has retained the National Civilized City title. Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Taicang and Kunshan, four county-level cities under the administration of Suzhou, have also been named as National Civilized Cities again.
Suzhou City was first honored as a National Civilized City in 2008 and it has been granted the title for 6 consecutive times. Zhangjiagang, which was awarded the title of National Civilized City for the first time in 2005, is the only county-level city in the country which has been honored as a National Civilized City for 7 times in a row. Changshu was on the list of the 5th batch of National Civilized Cities in 2017 and has been granted the title for 3 consecutive times. Taicang and Kunshan were selected among the 6th batch of National Civilized Cities in 2020 and have been awarded the title two times consecutively.
In addition, a total of 5 towns and 18 villages in Suzhou are on the list of this batch of National Civilized Towns and Villages. There are 21 units, 2 schools and 4 families designated as National Civilized Units, National Civilized Schools and National Civilized Families. And Yin Zhilan, a Suzhou resident, was named as a National Moral Model.
